I am new to DNN and inherited a website that was running on a different server. I was sent the web directory and DNN databased and installed it on the new server. I ran into a few issues which I was able to clear up from reading the forums here, but none of the solutions I have seen help with solving the problem I have with the login page.

Once I got the permissions correct on the database and directories the portal site comes up, but I can not get to the login page.

I have used the Open Sesame tool to reset the LoginTabID to NULL and verified it after looking at the table in the database but this does not solve the problem.

Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated because after spending a day reading though different the threads I have not been able to find anything that helps.

What are you getting when you try to go to the login page?

Have you reset your web.config to restart the application since you set that page?

I am getting a portal page from the website that is blank. it list at the top the register and login options but each one points to a blank page.

The address listed is: http://www.<mywebsite>.com/Home/tabid/54/ctl/Login/Default.aspx?returnurl=%2fHome%2ftabid%2f54%2fctl%2fLogin%2fdefault.aspx

I have attempted to type in the different addresses I have seen here that are suppose to display a login page with no luck.

The web.config file I am using is the one that was sent me that is in the directory for the website. By reset do you mean I should blow this file away and recreate it?

Hmm....

does the control actually exist?

look in \dnninstalldirectory\admin\authentication   it shouldn't be aspx, but ascx since it's a "control".  the default.aspx that you're seeing in the address is the main file that loads controls and really doesn't exist where it's showing it does.  don't worry abou that too much.

Carefull with the database though...poke around the folder structure in IIS all ya want, but messin in the database(other than some password reset I guess)...I'm hardly comfortable doing that, and I "think" i have a good understanding of SQL :->

Actually looking at what he send there is no " \dnninstalldirectory\admin\authentication" directory so i guess I might be missing something.
