Hay,

I don't know this is the correct group to send this post.
I want to user name to be an email address (I want to hide the emaill adress field inregistration)
and display name to be the user name. As I want the user name an email address at the time of registerign this field must
validate.

sorry, this is currently not supported and would require a customisation of the DNN authentication/membership provider.

I tried to do the customization but I am strugalling to find the correct files.
Will you be able to help me out to find the correct files and paths  if you dont mind.

You may be able to get around this by using DataSprings Dynamic Registration module.
