One after the other.

I am suspecting that it was due to an VWD DNN template install gone awry.

Long & short of it, I totally krababled a DNN Template install (was installing 4.8 & didn't have VB installed. Duh.) Any way since one is never enough I made the same stupid rookie mistake not 2, but yes ... 3 times folks.

So now I have four DNN template installs that come up in VWD when I attempt to create a new site. The obvious outcome is less then pleasant, as I am faced with the error-train-from hell.

So, can somebody kindly tell me how to kill the templates so I can install a clean fresh one and relieve me of my noobishness...

1)  Stop using VWD.

2)  Install using the Install version, not the Starter Kit.

Ok. Um fair enough.

Why do I feel like I just came out of the principals office after getting a swat (ya know when everybody heard it, but they are all pretending like they have no idea what happened as you walk by?)

Is there an issue with VWD? Geesh, I was pretty happy with it... Should I start using Notepad++ or are you saying I should be using Studio?

I will install using the install kit though and see how it goes...

Thanks,

Knuckles

Knuckles,

Personally there is nothing wrong with using VWD for module development, other than it does not support the WAP development model.

The key is that when installing DotNetNuke for development, rather than using the starter kit to create the install, just manually create it using the DotNetNuke install package, it works out mich nicer, at least in my opinion.  I have a full installation guide available at my website. http://www.mitchelsellers.com

if you're just looking to remove the installed templates, you can simply delete them from the filesystem

dotnetnuke.zip usually can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\<my user account>\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual Web Developer\VisualBasic

module_compiled_vb.zip & module_compiled_cs.zip usually can be found in to C:\Documents and Settings\<my user account>\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates\VisualBasic\Web

Note: i've never had any issues with using visual webdeveloper for dotnetnuke development.
