Are there any issues running DNN on an XP box?  I am deploying to an environment that will have 100 registered users max.  Concurrent users would rarely go past 20 users, and typical use would only be 1 or 2 concurrent users.

I had heard something about a limitation of 10 concurrent users in the web server in XP.  Am I going to run into problems once this site is in full usage?  For something this size, it seems overkill to install 2003 Server, and I would prefer not too unless I am forced to.

Any feedback on this area would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Rick Arthur

The Windows XP IIS server has built in 10 concurrent user limit. Although desktop OS such as WindowsXP can be used to host small DNN installations, you will run in to inherent limitations and will probably endup spending more time trying massage XP in to submission than getting the actual work done. There are probably close to a dozen hosting providers, ourselfs included that can have your DNN installation professionaly hosted and supported for the cost of a happy meal per month.

XP is limited to ten concurrent connections, which might be as few as two or three users.  Server 2003 has no limit, and Vista queues the connections so the user doesn't get refused, it just takes longer.  But yes, trying to run a server product on a workstation OS will cause you to have issues.

Also if you are running zone alarm on XP you need to turn off cookie control and ad blocking (this is a known bug in ZoneAlarm).
I'd run on a server (via a hosting provider) unless this is for DNN software development purposes.
Not sure if windows "Home Server" is up to the job (probably similar issues).
