I have downloaded the source file for 4.08.03 and installed a fresh copy onto my computer (windows xp)  I have an old dnn 2.7 installed on my system in the dotnetnuke dir.  I installed 4.8 in the dotnetnuke_4 dir and made a vertual dir dnn4 pointing to dotnetnuke_4/website.  I gave the dotnetnuke_4 dir the permissions for aspnet user that the system needed.  I started the install using //localhost/dnn4 the install steped me threw setting up an SQL connection and updated the database in the sql server.  I finished the install adding a host and admin,  then named the wesite portal.  The install said finished click (goto website).  I did and the browser started loading the page then acts like it is loading but will not load.  I tried going to the site //localhost/dnn4 it did the same thing.  The browser starts to load the page then sits there.  Any Ideas???

update when I use firefox browser this error is displayed. The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

Jon

What records are in the "PortalAlias" the table? It looks like redirection exists. This redirection may cause never-ended loop.

found it.  I am using the source install on an XP system.   I renamed the development.config to web.config (xp running IIS in pooled mode).  the trust setting needs to be full for this to work.  I changed it in the web.config file and now the page comes up just fine.  I found the fix on another form thread.  I'm putting the error fix on this page in case someone else has this problem.  Thanks
