I upgraded from 4.5 to 4.8.3 about 3 weeks ago. Ever since, my existing portals work fine, but any newly created portals are broken, resulting in:

Server Error in '/' Application.  Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Has anybody else had this problem?

I feel confident that I followed the instructions as laid forth in the upgrade process. I've looked at folder and file permissions, table data, the web.config, the machine.config. Also, I have a backup of the original website, so I can redo the entire process, but I'd rather do that as a last resort.  HELP!

The "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" exception is a generic exception that could mean a lot of things. Take a look in your DNN event log, perhaps there is a more specific exception message that we can advise you on.
