I'm trying to beta test Cambrian, but got an install error.  I logged in to Gemeni and the issue doesn't exist, but i can't see how to enter a bug.  I also can't find a 5.0 beta forum, so I'll paste the error here.

***

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Utilities.MSAJAX.Serialize(Object Obj) at DotNetNuke.UI.Utilities.ClientAPI.SerializeClientVariableDictionary(Page objPage, Dictionary`2 objDict) at DotNetNuke.UI.Utilities.ClientAPI.CAPIPreRender(Object Sender, EventArgs Args) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnPreRender(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlInputHidden.OnPreRender(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

This error occurs when first launching DNN after putting the correct db connection information in the web.config (using a copy of the development.config for the web.config).  I have both VS2005 and VS2008 installed so I don't think it can be an ajax controls issue but I may have only 3.5 controls installed; I'm not sure how Microsoft handles the backwards compatability.  I'm using Vista Ultimate and have other versions of dnn running on it fine (4.8.3 latest)

there seems to be an issue with your AJAX installation. Please log all errors into the public issue tracker on support.dotnetnuke.com

I've also got a problem with beta 5 - not sure yet if it is a bug or something I've done wrong.

I installed it locally using the custom install method, and the install was (apparently) sucessful.  However when I attempt to log on, nothing appears to happen - no control bar, no edit/view  radio buttons, no user name token, no logoff token.

The login control did accepted the username/password (I did type them correctly ;) And redirected back to home.  The url says /Home/tabid/37/Default.aspx?runningDefault=2  - so it appears that the login was correct.

But instead of showing the control bar and etc, it still shows "Register Login", as if the login did not work.

Now I dont think it is a bug, surely login is working correctly on beta 5? :)  But on the other hand I did enter the correct username/pwd.  If I deliberately try to login with an incorrect username/password it does say  "Login failed" (as expected).

Any ideas?

JK

JK,

this sounds like a cookie issue - did you try to delete your cookies for the domain?

Hi Sebastian - clearing cookies made no difference.  I do have lots of installs of various versions of DNN on localhost - and sometimes there are issues with cookies getting crossed.  But I cleared all cookies and the problem is the same.

JK.
