Hello All -

I apologize if this has been covered in another thread - I performed a quick search and didn't see a topic, but I'm sure my problem exists for others. I am brand new to DNN....I'm in the process of evaluating it vs building from scratch. I downloaded the VS Starter Kit for 4.8.2 and installed it - and it worked fine using a local .mdf file. I'm used to working in Sql Manager, and I noticed things went awry once I attached the mdf file in SqlManager. I decided to create a database in Sql Express first...setup the account permissions, then change the web.config connection string accordingly. This worked fine - but I noticed not all of the standard modules were available in the control panel.

I have since deleted the VS Project and database and started over. First thing I did was setup a new database. Second step was to start a new DNN web site from Visual Studio. I followed the installation screens....the db connection was ok - and the default DNN site appeared. Again...there were several missing modules from the control panel. No forums...no text/html etc.

I'm wondering what I've goobered up :-) Any suggestions for a newbie?

Thanks.

Hi Sebastian -

Thanks for the link...I'm sure that will help when I want to attach to the mdf file. Do you have any thoughts on the missing modules? I don't recall any installation errors.

Hi Sebatian -

I should have explained....when I logged in to the host account, I wasn't seeing the list of "missing modules" to install. The only one I saw was the store module. About 15 or so were missing. So...I uninstalled and reinstalled again...created a new VS DNN starter website - and finally - this time - I see the extra modules :-)

Thanks again for the info.

vasoxfan - did you do anything differently during the reinstall? I'm having this same issue where at least the text/html module isn't loaded. Thanks! jlane
