I was able to get DNN to install successfully on my local machine after several failed attempts and many frustrating days of research.

I have XP with IIS 5.1 all the latest MS updates VS 2005 SQL 2005

Once the DNN wizard completed I clicked the link (Goto Site) and an hour later it was still just spinning away. I have tried restarting IIS but that still did not fix the problem. When I type in the URL http://localhost/dotnetnuke/default.aspx and hit enter it just loads for hours on end with no progress what so ever. I don't get error messages or timeouts never prompted for a username and password, it just seems to load endlessly. I would be happy to provide more information. If this is not enough or unclear.

Just a guess.  Are you using IE or Firefox?  If you are using IE, try using Firefox.  I suspect Firefox will reveal an infinite loop is occuring.  I have seen other posts about DNN looping on new installs in the forums.
