Is the real db mssql better/faster than sqlexpress.

My DNN is running a bit slow can i improve it by using mssql?

If i want the best performance shall i set dnn to no cache?

Ulirk,

SQL Server Std or Enterprise is able to server larger installations, e.g. like dotnetnuke.com, but you won't get much performance on small sites.

If you want best performance, enable caching and compression and configure IIS web site and app pool appropriately.

Take care of your logs - eventlog, sitelog (store ideally in file system, not database) and scheduler history

make sure to backup your database frequently with truncating the transaction log or use simple recovery model.

Use a server with enough RAM (for caching)!
