my IIS is setup as an application with an virtual directory called DotNetNuke_Cambrian.

that came from opening up the vs2009 .sln for 5.0

the Website directory has full control for ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICE

i'm using XP btw....

when i create the database, and a user with db_owner permission is used, in web.config the dnn install

says the permissions aren't setup right on the root folder in iis, which doesn't allow you to set the permissions via IIS, you have to browse to it and

then do sharing/security, etc.

Did you grant full file system permissions to local ASPNET user for the directory, your virtual directory is pointing to?

If you are running DNN on WinXP, you also might find the free tool "XP Pro IIS Admin" very handy, which allows you to create multiple Web Sites (instead of virtual directories) on XP pro, which are much easier to deploy.
