 Hey Guys

I am very new to DNN. Just wanted to know whether it is possible (easy?) to move ones site to that using DNN?

Basically, the company that I work for has a website that is being hosted by a particular company where any changes that we want to make to the website has to go through the hosting company where they can charge huge amounts for any change that we want made to the website.

So the company decided that it would be best (if possible?) to move the website to that using DNN so that any changes that we need to make, we can do ourselves. We would not have to rely on the hosting company to make the changes for us.

Just to be clear, the hosting company would still host the website,  but by moving to DNN we would have the capability of making changes to the website e.g. adding content (text). Would it be possible to do this? Would we be able to make the changes to the website on a weekly basis?

Stephen,

yes, it is possible - the effort for migration depends on the amount of forms or specific services included (dynamic pages), like Shop, Forum.

Be aware that you need to get your site design converted into a DNN skin (or buy a new one), in general I suggest to combine the move to a new system with a general web site overhaul, starting with defining your basic needs for your web site and what you are aiming at with it.

 Hey Sebastian

Thanks for the reply,

The main idea for using a CMS based website is because our company is wanting the ability to manage one of the pages on the site without

having to pay the host company each time we want to make a change.

We are basically going to want to add individuals details (such as Name, Address, Telephone Number etc) to a specific page.

This information wil probably be updated on a daily or weekly basis,
