I'm getting the following error on each of the modules when I run the Starter Kit install:

Installation stopped because the directory for the ProjectType value did not exist.  The project type is invalid for your installation of Visual Studio.

I have both VS 2003 and  VS 2005 installed on the workstation. Can anybody help? I'm new to DotNetNuke and I don't have a clue what to do about this error.

Thanks,
Bob L.

I get this too. Is there a something basic that we're doing wrong?

I've just tracked down the answer!

I had changed the location my documents after having installed visual studio. The project locations (accessable via Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/General) were not updated in this move. I changed these locations to match the new location of my documents and all was well.

Hope this helps.

Right on the money for me. Changed the location of the folders and the install worked as stated. Thanks, I owe you one.

Hmm.  I'm having this error as well.  I've got a brand-new test machine with Windows Server 2003, Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Sever 2005.  Set up an IIS directory  \inetpub\wwwroot\test and put the .vsi startup file in it.  Got the error on executing it.  After reading this thread, I tried alternately running the .vsi file from the 'documents and settings\...\visual studio 2005\projects\' directory as well as going into the options and changing the location to point to the inetpub location -- either way, I get the same error.

What am I missing here?
