I just downloaded and attempted to install DNN 5.1.1 against my SQL 2000 server.  IT DOES NOT WORK. The same bug exists:

Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...FAILURE ERROR:

See s:\inetpub\SchneiderAdv\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\05.00.00.log for more information

It may be that the UPGRADE script (from say 4.9) works (I'll try that trick next), but the clean install certainly does not work. There is a TSQL statement somewhere in the script that is not compatible with SQL 2000.

From my experience DNN 5.1.1 is still not compatible with SQL 2000.  Not sure but if I was you I would do restore to your privious version (DNN 4.9) and either leave it for the moment until it is properly fix or update your existing db to SQL 2005 and then upgrade to 5.1.1

I am still fighting to fix my dababase since I tried to update to 5.0.1 and my hosting company screew up my db backup, so be carefull.

I think that my theory (that the UPGRADE scripts have been fixed but not the INSTALL scripts) has been proven correct.

I did a CLEAN install of DNN 4.9.1 against an SQL 2000 database.  That installation was successful.  I then performed an UPGRADE to DNN 5.1.1 and that also WAS SUCCESSFUL.

So, a CLEAN install of DNN 5.1.1 still will NOT WORK against SQL 2000 but at least there is a work-around. I look forward to the DNN community fixing this issue.
