After upgrading from Version 4.0.9 to the Latest and Greatest Version 5.1, now approved for use in production environments, I am getting this error when I logon as Host. I am using IIS 7 on Windows 2008 with SQL 2008. Any insight into why I am getting this error will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

John Kisha

This error has already been reported, please check your Host Settings and versions tables, there might be a miussing/interfering entry.

Thanks for your reply Sebastian. It is a bit cryptic to me with my limited knowledge of DNN. Can you please elaborate further or possibly provide me with a link to the original reporting so that I am more clear as to what to do or how to preceed. What sort of entries am I looking for exactly?

Thanks again,

John

And another 'little' problem. So, I deleted all the files in the root directory of the site and copied back the original files from the 4.x version. I then restored the data base. Every thing seemed fine, until I tried to upload a new skin and got the following error. It apprears to be a premissions problem, so maybe the permissions didn't set properly from the copy paste operation? So, I guess what I am asking is how can I correct the permissions on the files to allow the Host account to again be able to write to them? Here is the error:

Error: Install Skin Package is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\iis\dotnetnuke\wwwroot\Portals\_default\Skins\QuadratBlue\images' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\iis\dotnetnuke\wwwroot\Portals\_default\Skins\QuadratBlue\images' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path, DirectorySecurity dirSecurity) at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path, DirectorySecurity directorySecurity) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.SkinController.UploadSkin(String RootPath, String SkinRoot, String SkinName, Stream objInputStream) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.FileSystem.WebUpload.cmdAdd_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

This is extremely frustrating. Again, any insight is greatly appreciated.

this sounds definately like missing file system permissions to ASP.Net windows account ("Network Service" by default) for the upload directory.
