Most common cause is that you didn't give the ASP.NET process account permission to the physical folders or Virtual Directory.  In fact, it would be best if you didn't use a virtual directory.

Hi.

Ive set the ASPNET account to have read/write properties on that virtual directory, but i still get the error. Then i tried to move the entire folder into wwwroot and set again the read/write properties for ASPNET account, but still get the error.

Do you know any documentations on installing DotnetNuke 5.1.0 ? i cannot find one on the documentations downloads,  i found an article online and i tried to follow it, but unsuccessful. ( http://www.bestwebsites.co.nz/dotnetnuke/easy-dotnetnuke-installation-guide/  )

Hoping for anyones advice, so that I can start using and exploring dotnetnuke 5.1.0.

Thank you very much.

I had the same problem.  I had forgotten to copy release.config to web.config.  After doing that, installation proceeded as normal.
