Newbie Question

I just started reading thru the installation guide Instructions for the DotNetNuke Install Package. My platform is WinXP Pro. Configuration A or B within the installation guide lists IIS 6 or newer. But WinXP ships with IIS 5.1 and to my knowledge, Microsoft does not provide an upgrade to IIS 6 for the WinXP platform.

Am I missing something here?

TIA - Steven

Yes, I recently did a test site using WinXP Pro with IIS 5.1, SSMS 2008 Express as well.

Steven,

I have just installed DotNetNuke on a WinXP Professional platform with IIS 5.1.  There were three things I had to do which may not have been explicitly mentioned in the install Package Installation Instructions document, or I missed them:

In IIS Manager
1) Changed Properties of the virtual directory DotNetNuke to include "Directory browsing" because no page opened when browsing to http://localhost/DotNetNuke
In Windows Explorer
2) Added ASP.Net Machine Account ({myServerName}\ASPNET) with Full Access to C:\DotNetNuke folder Properties
and, in SQL Server Management Studio (using SQL Server 2005)
3) Created new database DotNetNuke

I hope this helps.

Grant

Grant,

I did my installation using the database.mdf option and it uses the database in the APP_DATA folder.  How would you do your configuration attaching the database to SSMS 2008 express?  I think I may try re-installing my site attaching the database to SSMS 2008.  I hope this made sense.  What instructions would be helpful using SSMS 2008 Express.

Thanks.
