I am also getting these errors on various host and admin pages after upgrading from 4.9 to 5.1.1.  Are there troubleshooting steps or solutions available?

Error: Module Definitions is currently unavailable.

Error: Module Definition Validator is currently unavailable.

Error: Languages is currently unavailable.

Error: Custom Portal Locale is currently unavailable.

Same problem here.

Hope you will respond as soon as possible, and in future test the upgrade before distribute it

It sounds, like some upgrade steps haven't been performed properly. Only suggestion I have is to setup a DNN 5.1.1 blank installation aside and compare all site settings and host settings values in the database. you may also check integrity of the versions table.

Same here.. same problems as listed above.

When I was doing the upgrade from 4.9 to 5.1 last night... it got 5 minutes into the update.... and then stayed for 30 more minutes @ 70% cpu (IIS worker process). In the end, I had to end the task, it was taking forever to do the update, and I thought it was hung (no disk IO, just high CPU).  (last message was updating assemblies 5.0 and nothing after that).  The schema changes went through though.

Anyhow, I could roll back, but i really dont want too.  The File manager issue and lanaguges (and a couple other admin tabs) are throwing these strange errors.

Any ideas?

I have just upgraded from 04.08.02 to 05.01.02. and had the same problems that Stephan was having until I made sure that my file permissions were correct on the upgrade files BEFORE i copied the files onto the 04.08.02 site i was upgrading. After i did the upgrade correctly, i was able to see icons in my host and admin panels (before they were blank), i was able to see all my module definitions in the definitions panel (before I got the same errors as Stephan i.e. "Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to 'System.Version')" etc.
