I just installed DNN from GoDaddy.com and upgraded it to the latest release 5.01.01

I followed the instructions exactly as written in the readme.txt and after copying all of the files and modifying the web.config I ran the upgrade by going to www.mydomain.com/dnn

All parts of the upgrade said successful.

I clicked on the button to go back to me website and it opened fine. I tried to login but got this error:

A critical error has occurred.
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

The only thing I have done to the original install of 4.9 was add in the forum module that came with it. That even appeared to open properly, it just seems that I can't login which is causing me obvious issues. Can someone please help me?

One additional note:

Before the upgrade I installed and applied a skin for v4 which worked great, but I never changed it before the upgrade.

I am not sure if that is the problem, but without the ability to login I cannot find out. However, the skin looks correct.

I have an identical issue with the login module after upgrading to 5.1.1 CE from 4.9.

A critical error has occurred.
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

Am unable to login to any portal.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Discovered that it is an incompatibility with the Chrome browser .... it's OK in IE7.

Checked out Firefox 3.0.5 and that is also incompatible.

Hmmmm .... these are standard browsers these days ...I wonder if it is browser settings that need adjusting or something more substantial ... IF anybody has any ideas?

You're right! I'm getting the same error after I upgraded, and it seems to only work in IE. Strange!
