Hi.
I tried to upgrade from 4.9.4 to 5.1.1 and encountered so many problems and errors with the upgrade process that I decided to do a fresh install of 5.1.1 to see if it would go better. I have been using DNN on my sites and clients sites since DNN started, so I have tried all the tips and tricks I know as well as others on the net and this forum before I posted here. Permissions are right.
The after install error I am experiencing occurs when I try to access the Host > Module Definitions page.
I get this error message on the page that would otherwise list the installed modules:
Error: Module Definitions is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleHost.LoadModuleControl() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
I also pasted the event log error message below, that complains about:
InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Other wise, everything appears to be working as expected.
Thanks for your help.
Bill

Here's the remote error message:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Source Error:
The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:
1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:
<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>
or:
2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:
<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.
Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario. |
