Cannot install the latest version of DNN 5.1.2.

1. Unzip install package to site's root directory

2. Go to site

3. Run the Install Wizard.

I have chosen Custom Install, then, it was a file access test>sucess.

After that, I provided DataBase infos and clicked on Test Connection button > Success

The next step began install DataBase objects. I wait....

Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...FAILURE 400 - Thread was being aborted.

When I looked to the DataBase after that, some tables and stored procedures were installed.

But site is not working.

Previousely, I have done the same thing with 5.1.1 and the site was installed with no issues.

Maybe the install package 5.1.2 contains errors and needs to be fixed?

Just my recommendation but I had very similar issues and this worked for me.

Start by deleting and recreating your database in SQL Server, also clean out your site's root directory and unzip the install package

You can either modify web.config or simply enter the database information in the wizard. HOWEVER!!! if you can use your 'sa' account and password.

Once you have successfully created your portal edit your web.config and enter your site specific user/pwd combination.

Hope it helps, it is the only thing that worked for me.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I lost about 3 hours trying to install the site by different ways.

I already deleted and recreated database with site's directory at least 3 times, the result was always the same - error during db script.

I did not try however to install the site on localhost, I have done all those things directly on server - my hosting provider.

I will try the last thing that remains - enter the database connection string infos into web.config before runing the Install Wizard.

Maybe this will help?

I triied to install(without modifying web.config) on localhost. And it was ok. No problems.

There's something with database on server, maybe missing some special rights. So, I decided to transefer the new site from localhost to the server from backup.

This same issue happened for me as well. After much trial and error trying to install from both my localhost and from the server, here was what worked for me though it doesn't make sense to me at this time. If you've already tried installing the db, delete it and start with an empty one.

I manually entered my db connection string in web.config, in the install wizard I chose the Custom Install option (choosing 'Auto' gave me a complete error log of the install on a previous attempt), entered my db server address, username, password, checked 'run as as db owner' (using MSSQL Management Express, ensure you're user id is set to db_owner under 'Security > Users, right-click 'Properties' > General Tab > Database role membership: window), then I entered a simple prefix for my tables. It worked like a charm. Again I'm not sure yet why this series of steps worked but I hope it helps someone.
