Hey everyone,

I just upgraded a site I am working on from 4.9.5 to 5.1.2 and now when I try to go to the home page I get a DotNetNuke error page that says:

An error has occurred.
An error has occurred.

And "Return to site"

I have already migrated the web.config and that did help anyway. Querying the SQL tables directly I can see in the EventLog that their are many MODULE_LOAD_EXCEPTION and PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION messages.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

1. ". . . I have already migrated the web.config and that did help anyway." In upgrades from DNN 4.6.2 and later, you should not make any modifications to the web.config. When using the upgrade package which does not contain a web.config file, any necessary changes to the old web.config file will be done automatically. Please provide more information on what was done to the web.config file.

2. During the upgrade were any errors noted?

3. Have you checked for any non-empty sql log files that were written during the upgrade? These would be in the Providers/DataProviders/SqlDataProvider/ folder and have names of the form 05.xx.xx.log

4. When looking at the EventLog table in the database, please look more closely at the LogProperties column. This will contain (as xml markup) more details about each exception and most importantly the stack trace leading up to the error.

5. Did you backup both the existing site's folders/files as well as the database before attempting the upgrade?
