Has anyone got this to work?

I repeatedly get errors which appear to be related that DNN can't see the database.  We have 10 database successufly running on this box via normal IIS and have no issues.  If I use an existing SQL user or a specific DNN user, still no luck.

No matter what  I do I continual get the Assembly version error or Database not found error...

This is a clean install, not an upgrade... very frustrating

This is a common error that typically comes from skipping a step in the install process. First thing's first, make sure you created the DNN database user and gave it database owner access to the DNN database. Ensure that this username/password is correct in the web.config. After this, if you're still having problems, test the exact connection string in another app. Remember that 4.x uses two connection strings to support legacy modules, controls, skin objects, etc. Make sure both of these are correct.

Have you gotten it working yet?  I am in the same boat with using DNN 4.0.3 and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise sp4.  I am pretty sure that the security and IIS are ok, so it all comes down to the web.config and how its setup.  From reading posts all over this forum, it looks like people that use DNN4 and SQL2000 are having most of their issues with the web.config file settings.  If you get yours working, could you copy and paste the part of the web.config file that you edited?  Oh, I am also using SQL authentication, do you think its better to use Windows authentication?

I have 10 databases already setupon this server... and yes the user and permissions are all setup correctly.  I've tested it 20 times... still no luv.  Not liking DNN 4.x... grrr...

jimbayne,

I got my DNN4 working finally, and it was a stupid mistake that was not in any documentation.  Yesterday, I made a 4 page step by step instruction document with screen shots for setting up DNN4 on Windows 2003 and using SQL 2000.

Send me an email and I will reply back with the document.
