Ok.... I finnaly figured out the SQL express 2005 problem (had to go to program files, copy the database and move it into the app_data folder..) The install ran, then it said click here to access your portal... I did that and now this is all I see on the screen:

Nothing To Install At This Time

Current Assembly Version: 04.00.03

Current Database Version: 04.00.03

Well how nice...if there is nothing to install, may I please acccess my portal :(...

I don't know what to do ...

hmmm... I'm having the same issue but with SQL Server, so I don't think it is just about your SQL Express 2005...

In case this happens to you...

I ended up recovering from backups and got my portal running again while I tried to troubleshoot this.  There was no additional information on what might have gone wrong, so I just tried it again.  This time it worked.

In retrospect the only difference that I can think of is that the second time I did *not* stop the web site via IIS as I copied the new files into place.  (The first time I did the upgrade during the day it seemed like a good idea to stop the site, but the second time at 1AM I didn't care...)

Windows 2003 SBS with SP1 (IIS 6.0); SQL 2000

I have no idea if this was the fix or just a fluke, but it worked for me.  Before the upgrade the site seemed very slow and I got a LOT of "Object Reference Not Set To An Instance of An Object" errors.  Now it seems much faster and so far no errors, so 4.0.3 seems to be working great.

HTH,

Phil
