I get the following error every time I attempt to navigate to the login page. Any ideas?

If you have access to the database you might run

 

select * from eventlog

 

and see if you get any more details as to what is failing? During the installation did you see any sort of error messages?

I don't know what the error really is, but one thing you might try is to do this.
 
From the INSTALL package that you downloaded, copy the INSTALL folder that is inside of that zip file, paste that over your INSTALL folder on the website.
 
then try browsing to the website again but using the following path /install/install.aspx?mode=installresources
 
ex: http://www.mysite.com/install/install.aspx?mode=installresources
 
That way if something failed during the install, such as one of the authentication providers, you can force them to get reinstalled. Since you just installed you probably don't need to backup the site/database before you do that copy, but if you were already up and running and had content changes I would suggest that first.
