Hi,

I'm new to DNN and am having trouble with the install. I can't find any other posts that deal with this version, so I'm a little lost.

I watched several videos of the previous version installs and configured my local permissions, etc.

I'm trying to run a test version locally on IIS using an existing remote SQL 2008 db.

So I get to the DDN installation wizard ok and start entering in my remote DB info. It connects fine, starts running the scripts and all is good for about 30 seconds and then it spits out this error...

Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...FAILURE 400 - Generic failure

The next button is disabled and I can't continue.

When I check my db via SQL Server Management Studio I can see it's created a bunch of new tables in my existing database.

I'm not sure why the error is occuring or what to do next?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

- make sure, your database is empty on startup - make sure, your database user has dbowner permission for the database - make sure, database compatibility is 90 or 100

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your reply.

FYI, I'm trying to install locally on my IIS machine and then access a remote SQL Server.

I started over with a brand new empty DB with correct permissions.

Same error.

Any ideas? Is there a work around?

Thank you,

Jason

P.S. I only posted once but the DNN forum gave me an error and I didn't think it posted at all.

I am getting the same error.   I am installing DNN 5 on my local Vista machine, utilizing a remote SQL 2008 database.

After I get the error, I can see that a lot of tables, views and stored procedures have been created, so create access is obviously enabled.

Any other things I should check?

Thanks

Evan
