If you're missing the "HTML" module in the list of available modules something likely failed. Check out the /INSTALL/MODULE folder, see if there's a ZIP file in there.

If so, try going to www.MYWEBSITE.com/install/install.aspx?mode=installresources and see if the install will take this time around.

The default content is missing because the HTML module didn't get installed and there's no way to display that default content without the module, you won't likely get that content if the above install URL does work, but you may get the HTML module back.

Honestly, I would start over, too risky if something failed during install besides the HTML module.
