Hello all,
I am a new DNN user (or trying to be) - just finished the trial install of DNN pro on a hosted server (we have full access) - The install went fine (server is 2008r2) once i Remote Desktop in to the server I can navigate to the new site just fine and I get the default DNN site. However if i try to navigate to the site from any other pc I get a 404.0. If i just try to use the IP addy(from any other machine) of the web Server I get the normal welcome to IIS. But the moment I try to navigate to the actual site I get a 404.0

I followed the instructions that I downloaded along with the trial -

After loading the management console, expand the tree for "Default Web Site." Right click and create a new Application named "WEBSITENAME" pointing to the C:\websites\WEBSITENAME folder. Applications in IIS 7/7.5 are like Virtual Directories in IIS6 when those Virtual Directories are configured to run an Application. In IIS 7/7.5 a Virtual Directory is simply a pointer to a directory, without the ability to run an application.

Is there something else I should have done in order for the site to be seen by other machines?
Thanks in advance

Hi
Did you edit the bindings for the site and did you add the portal alias for the site ?

How to add binding information to a site

   1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager:
          * If you are using Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2:
o On the taskbar, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
          * If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7:
o On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
o Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
   2. In the Connections pane, expand the server name, expand Sites, and then click the Web site on which you want to configure the bindings.
   3. In the Actions pane, click Bindings...
   4. In the Site Bindings dialog box, click Add...
   5. In the Add Site Binding dialog box, add the binding information, and then click OK.

The bindings are present - on looking further - i noticed that (this is a winserver 2008r2 machine if I hadnt allready mentioned that) the error is pointing to a path that does not exist. Its trying to go to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ when it should be going to websites/sitename. I had installed this once before on a local machine here and went to look and inside the file system and inside the old install there is a folder with the DNN install under inetpub/wwwroot.

Did the install fail to create this directory or is this something I should have done to begin with?
