When I try to update or install a module I get a time out error.  In fact after I click next at the accept license and wait forever I get the an error similar to:
SQL Execution resulted in following Exceptions: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding...

Is this due to the database server being really slow? I am hosted at discountasp.net.  I thought they were good but I am not sure anymore.
Anything I can do to improve the situation?
Thanks

there seem to be performance issues with database responses - either due to server performance or the database needs to be "streamlined": truncate database transaction log, truncate tables eventlog and schedule history, clear search tables (see http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/134/Default.aspx)

Before writing this thread I manually truncate the site logs and events viewer, compact the db that is now a big 38 meg !

The link you sent me seems to explain how to truncate the seach index manually.  I will try but not sure this will help.

I am not familiar with the scheduler but could that be a cause?   Here is a screen shot of what I have in there. http://www.clemex.com/bug/sheduler.png
Thanks for your help

Quick questions, I am trying to schedule my event logs to get purge automatically but when I look in the scheduler that task is no where to be found!   Should it be under the name column?

Also could you tell me how to truncate my transaction log, if I look in SQL MS when I do a db shrink the option to truncate the log is gray out and I don't know any other way.
Thanks
