I am trying to install DNN on a Windows 2008 R2 Server with IIS 7.5 and a remote SQL 2008 R2 server.  I can get everything working no problem until I get to the Confgure Database Connection screen in the Install Wizzard.  I am using the SQL 2005/2008 Database option and have tried using both integrated and SQL authentication...both result in the same error message below:

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlCLient Data Provider
Class: 11
Number: -2
Message:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom

Is your remote SQL Server configured for remote access? By default, SQL Server 2005 onwards doesn't allow remote connections.

Mandeep,

Thanks for your reply...while my SQL server was configured to accept remote connections your post got me thinking down the right track....I disabled the windows firewall on the domain networks and we instantly able to connect!

Thanks,

Tom
