it looks like an issue we need to narrow down and submit to the bug tracker to get it fixed sometimes in the future.

Before submitting to Gemini we will need the full steps to reproduce.

> created a directory and copied install package to it...  and opened the website. opened default.aspx and clicked cntl-f5 to build. chose auto for installation.

You should only be using the source package, not the install package to build (the project file is included in the source. You do not get Telerik source included in the source package).... Otherwise use the install package and please don't build the project.

> An uprade from 5.5.1 to 5.6 also caused the extra portal alias issue.

How many portals do you have? What bindings do you have set up in IIIS, did you have any extra bindings you were not using before the upgrade?

Please be aware of:

This is a known issue, not sure if it is related:

Hope this helps...  Thanks..

I've always used the install package in VWD, and the build website never had a problem before. Didn't know you didn't have to do the build. I don't use IIS at all, not even installed. I just use the asp.net development server included in VWD Express, so the issue with two bindings isn't related. I only have one portal setup, portal 0, for this to happen. It happens on the initial install, and it happens on the addition of child portals as well after the initial install. I'll try a fresh install today without the build and see if the issue persists when just "view in browser" is used.
