I am a long-time user of DNN portals.

I just tried to install DNN 5.60 new install onto Windows Server 2003, SQL 2008 system with newly installed DotNet Framework V4. It won't even get to the install page. Gives me a 404

This box has been running a DNN under DotNet 2 for over a year now.

I have seen somewhere that DNN5.6 requires server 2008 - is this true ???. 

I do have a DNN5.5.1.22 running on another box which does have Server 2008.

NB This is the most trouble I have EVER had with DNN - in the past 10 years !!!.

Yes the website is set up, and I can access a test page (gs.htm). It just gives me a 404 when I hit default.aspx.

I even did a complete fresh install, new database, new website. Permissions FULL Control for ASPNET etc. :-O.

Well - I went back to Plan B and did a complete new install on a Server2008 - and its all up and running on there.

Must be a configuration issue then - or my DotNet Framework V4 install didn't go as expected :-(.

Its the first time I have ever had a brick wall when trying to install.

Yes default.aspx is defined as the default page and enabled. In fact even if I add default.aspx to the url it still doesn't work.

Security is all as (I believe) it should be....

When I switched the website back to V 2 it at least fired up. With V4 it just reports 404 error before even trying to install....

I will get back to it again if it 'SHOULD' still work on Server 2003.....
