I just did a clean install of DNN 5.5.1 on IIS 7 and ASP 4.0. The problem I have is that occasionally, especially when editing and setting up modules, some of the resource strings do not show up. For example, I have "Save" and "Delete" when looking at the settings of an HTML module, but no "Cancel" (the cancel button / back arrow is still there). More importantly, when trying to set up a new blog in the blog module, I have neither "update", nor "cancel", which means that i cannot set up a new blog. The html code comes with the following:

That is, update and cancel are empty links. I have set up two child portals and two languages, but I doubt that this is the issue, as I have a separate site rinning with pretty much the same configuration. The issue is consistent, in the sense that the HTML module will always have "Cancel" missing, but is inconsistent in the sense that different things show up for different modules. The New Blog piece of the blog module for example has neither of the tree. The Banner module is missing all banner types. The user profile pages are missing the string that says "upload file".

I checked the language settings and resource files and everything seems ok. Any help will be appreciated.

sorry, I have never experienced this - might there be an issue accessing the resource files, e.g. by another service on the server (AV, backup)? did you make sure, there is only one worker process configured for the DNN App Pool?

You may be right. This was a clean install, but after an uninstall of the previous DNN application. My hosting provider won't let me do much with IIS other than recycle the application pool, which doesn't seem to help. I can still see the old directory in IIS even though I physically from the server. Anyways, I will remove it from IIS, wait a bit, contact the hosting provider, and see what happens. If nothing works I will check back later. Thanks for the idea. I am guessing sooner or later any other such worker processes should die?

depends on recycle settings - at latest on a server reboot.
