I am trying to install on my shared hosting account at m6.net and keep getting this.

Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...FAILURE 400 - A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

Here is my setup screen.

I can connect to the SQL server using the credentials and ip address through Management Studio no problem. I cannot understand what is happening here. If I change the password to something wrong I get an immediate credential failure so I know it is connecting to the SQL server. Any help is appreciated.

you need to make sure, the SQL Server and client are configured for TCP/IP

Got it.. this is with a hosting provider not sure I can check that.

I can connect across the internet using the IP address and Management Studio... seems that would mean TCP/IP is enabled right?

sounds to be correct for the server, but the server needs to have TCP/IP client installed as well.

you also need to make sure the database credentials are correct such as no extra space etc.
