Just thought I'd drop a post here if any of you thought about putting an instance of DNN in a sub-folder off your site... don't do it!  It will cause problems if you try to create multiple portals in the future! Leave it at the root of your site's server.

Luckily, the team over at PowerDNN was quickly able to overcome my structure error.  They got it moved to the root and up and running within minutes!

I learned 2 lessons today... leave your DNN installations at the root & having my hosting with PowerDNN was the best decision I've made with regards to hosting.  Page load time is blazing fast, support is quick and effective, and communication are great!

if you are on real hosting, it is best practice (though not always supported by all hosters) to install DNN in the root of the web site folder. On localhost, you may use a virtual directory for testing, but I wouldn't recommend this for development of sites, because relative paths will change when being moved onto the live server.
