Believe it or not this is symptomatic of incorrect permissions.
The account you set for your AppPool has to be granted permissions on your web folder.
If you are using "DefaultAppPool" try setting it to use "Network Service" internal account and give that account everything but Full Permissions on your web folder.

Ok, cleaned everything out, downloaded a fresh copy of Pro-Trial. Same thing... timed out after the Admin page. Can you guys with DNN test this and see if you are getting the same thing? I really wanted to go with Pro Trial as I am working the budget side to get funding and I didn't want to have to try and upgrade the community version to pro...

The community version works fine on my systems... so I don't know what else to do... please let me know.

P.S. Why are these forums moderated for posting? I mean, I am a potential paying customer trying to get help with an install. I first have to wait for the post to get approved and posted, then I have to wait for someone to help with a posting... seems strange to make your users wait.

Yes, I saw this on the training video... I believe I have this set up correctly... I did have to do it a little different though... I am not on Release 2 so I had to command line set up the IIS AppPool user to have FULL access to the folder with the files in it. It shows to have full access... when I check for security on the folder and the files in it... but perhaps it's not. Is this different for Pro vs. Community. As Community installed fine.

I downloaded the install package for the DNN Pro Trial and managed to install it successfully. I created the database, modified the web.config, and browsed to the install/install.aspx path for my test domain and it installed without any errors. No reason you shouldn't be able to install it if you were able to successfully install the community edition.

Thanks Recardo.

Ok, I upgraded the server to R2, cleaned everything out, ran it again... Re-assigned the permissions to the AppPool, got to the admin screen and this time it didn't give the generic .net error timed out, but gave back a DNN screen with just this...

Unhandled Error
Error Details
File
Error Thread was being aborted.

Not sure what to do now.
