I've been working with them. We're going to try a few more things. I was really hoping someone here might have had similar experiences.

I did end up with the database partially installed when, on my comptuer, I set up a sample dev project, on loading it, DNN saw the db wasn't installed, and apparently my user id has enough rights to run some of the inital scripts...so now I also have to clean up the DB and start the installation over again from the server, once we get the service account right.
