I am getting the following error as I try to create a new parent portal in a DNN installation that was a full copy (all folders down) of another DNN installation on the same server.  The SQL database this second installation is linked to is also a copy of the first, web config edited fine.  I edited the portal alias of this second install, can login fine to the default 0 portal but can't get it to take the additional parent portal -

Error configuring Child PortalAccess to the path 'D:\Webs\wwwroot\myfirstlicense.com\www\Portals\6\' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path, Object dirSecurityObj) at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalController.CreatePortal(String PortalName, UserInfo objAdminUser, String Description, String KeyWords, String TemplatePath, String TemplateFile, String HomeDirectory, String PortalAlias, String ServerPath, String ChildPath, Boolean IsChildPortal)

Thanks,
Jo

This is because the IIS user of your IIS website have not write acces on the mentioned directory.

You to add full acces permissions on the dnn base directory to the IIS user (for exemple NETWORK SERVICE).
To find the user, you have to look in the application pool associated with your IIS website.
