I am trying to upgrade two sites from 5.6.2 to the latest version 6.1.1. The first site upgraded without any problems but the second got stuck on an infinite redirect when trying to load the UpgradeWizard.aspx page.

After googling I found two things to try, the first was AJAX Extensions version but since this website was newly installed to 5.6.2 and I have .Net 3.5 is installed I thought it was not this. The second was forward slashes in the PortalAliases but again this was not the case.

So I am stuck at the moment and not sure what to do to debug the issue. How do I find out what is going on and what might be the cause?

One thing that I know is different is that there are two Virtual directories under the dnn root. Could this be the cause?

Edit: I have just noticed the following error from the UpgradeWizard.aspx page in the windows event log "Event message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired." could this have something to do with it and if so what is it?
