Hi,
I have DNN 06.01.05 installed as the root web for a domain, and it is working fine, I installed another application in a virtual directory under the root web, the application files are placed in a different folder on the server.
The DNN site is still working fine, but the other application is giving an error when i try to access it:

The problem is the inheritance in the web.config

I tried the following:

  • Open Web.config file of your parent DNN site.
  • Look for system.web entry in the file.
  • Enclose that whole section in location tag and set the attributes of that tag as below.
     <location path="" inheritInChildApplications="false"> <system.web> .. .. </system.web> </location>
But dnn stops working when I do these changes.

there is a known issue with the 51degrees mobile file where it causes an exception when a location tag is added - we have raised that error and hopefully the 51degrees project will resolve it ASAP. In the meantime you can go into your subapplication and selectively remove httphandlers and httpmodules via the remove declaration - this is very old but the advice is still valid http://www.r2idnn.com/Forum/aff/2/aft/11/afv/topic.aspx . Alternatively you can use 6.1.4 as it was only the 6.1.5 version that introduced the 51degrees mobile assembly.
