Hi,

I try to install DNN 6.2.2 on my (virtual) Server 2008/r2.

I create an application with the IIS management console in 'DefaultAppPool', which points to some directory were the dnn installation package is still waiting.

Works.

I try to configure the access rights on this directory, but ...

The documentation tells me, if I have IIS7.5, grant access to IIS AppPool/Websitename, ok, 'DefaultAppPool/Compuseum2', but I cant find that account.

Documentation tells me, if you have IIS6/7, use Network Service, ok, there is an account 'Netzwerkdienst', doesnt work.

Please can somebody tell me, which steps exactly must be done to get it running (for an IIS newbee)? Thanks.

With best regards

Gerhard

Hi,

tried out some identities: Netwerk Service (= Netzwerkdienst), IUSRS, Local Service (= Lokaler Dienst), Network, ...

Nothing helps. Just get error 500.19, no permission to read web.config.

So, no idea whats wrong, sorry.

With  best regards

Gerhard

HI,
You write : "The documentation tells me, if I have IIS7.5, grant access to IIS AppPool/Websitename, ok, 'DefaultAppPool/Compuseum2', but I cant find that account."
This is normal you can't found this account by search. You have to write it.
If you use the DefaultAppPool, you have to set : IIS APPPool\DefaultAppPool on the Folder / security.
When in the security of the folder, click Edit... then Add... Enter : IIS APPPool\DefaultAppPool , click Check name. If good, the entry is underlined. Click OK, OK .. test

Thanks Julien,

You were right, I have to type in, strange, but ok. So the documentations is still missleading, because they point me to IIS AppPool\WEBSITENAME and this account isn't there, not by searching and not by typing in. The tabel with this information is on page 3 of the 6 page installation guide.

Ok, so I entered IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool and this was found and I set the full rights and ...

The error has changed to somewhat ... blocked, because some higer level directory misses this rights ...

Ok, at which level should I apply this rights??

And is it possible to correct the documentation, thanks.

With best regards

when you create a new site in IIS , an app pool with the name of the website is created. So your difficulties come from you attach you site to the defaultapppool vs a own app pool for your site (better site isolation process).*

Modify permission is too enought, these permissions must be on the Main Dotnetnuke Folder (whitch is the dezziped folder) and his childs folders and files.
