I have a site that does not work if I have the web server located in a DMZ separated by a firewall.  I should say the site works but if you go into to edit content it will timeout alot of the time and you cannot add or view security roles.  The web server is separated by a hardware firewall from the sql server, port 1433 is open.  Do other ports need to be open?  As a test I put the web server on the lan with the Sql server and everything worked fine.  I ran a network capture and could see the web server talking with the Sql using 1433 as dest and ports 53608 and up as source.  Do I need to allow 5306 ans up?  Is there any documentation that gives what port range is needed?

the communication ports are not configured by DNN, but by SQL Server and Client TCP/IP protocol. Have a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/28793...

Hmm ok so it seems as long as I have 1433 open it should work. The issue is I can login in as host but some functions will not work for example under admin, security roles, if I try to add a new role i get a problem loading page the connection was reset. Any clue as to what would cause that?
