I was wondering which download/install method most people prefer when creating a DNN website. On the downloads page there are 3 options: Web Matrix (for developers), Web Platform Installer (for Users), Install Package. I am going to assume most people download the .zip file (the install package) and drag the contents to whichever directory they please and go straight to IIS Manager and point to the directory leaving Web Matrix/Platform Installer out of the mix. Please correct me if I am wrong.

This video basically explains that method (it is also where I learned it): http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/V...

Although, there is a point in the video (0:50)  where he says he already has his chosen domain name (awesomecycles.biz)
pointing to his local (IIS) web server.
If someone can explain to me how I can follow this video and set my site up so it is like his where the actual URL points to my local web server instead of the actual web that would be great.

Please add any extra advice, tips, suggestions that may help me keep all of my websites organized and ready for an actual live launch.

You have to Point the DNS to the IP of your Local Internet Connection, and open the Firewall on Port 80 and/or 443 and point it to your local web Server where your DNN instance is hosted.  You need fixed IP address to do this, with dynamic Ip this would not work.

Thanks, it sounds like I will not be able to go that route.

What I would like to do is find a way to add a site through IIS like he does in the video I posted above, set proper permissions on the directory, etc.

I am not sure what to do for the Binding: and Host: part of the add new site screen. If it was a live site this would be easy but what would I put for these fields if I want to develop locally with IIS. I can't really follow the video since he changed where his DNS points.
