DotNetNuke Error

Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'IX_PortalAlias'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.PortalAlias'. The duplicate key value is (localhost:1202). The statement has been terminated.

I did not like the way I installed DNN so I deleted the files and tried to reinstall it. It doesn't run because I did not delete the database.

Fair enough. But WHERE is the database?

I have SQL Server Management Studio running and I'm connected to both my SQL 2008 R2 (MSSQLSERVER) AND SQLEXPRESS but neither of them have ANY database defined. Wherever I look, I see only two running instances of SQL and I have looked at both. No databases!

Evil magic perhaps?

Jim

Oops!

Not "Evil Magic," I looked at the connection string in web.config and saw the 'attach.'

This gave me the crazy idea that I could attaché this database to MSSQLSERVER and stop using SQLEXPRESS.

Guess what? It works just fine (or it works so far!)

I wonder why the install had no option for choosing SQL Server instead of EXPRESS?

Jim

PS: I let Visual Studio build a connection string for me and I just copied it.
