there are known issues with blank template in DNN 7.1, on 7.1.0 you should use default template, in 7.1.1 you may use blank template, but make sure to install in the root of website with a real domain name.

Sebastian,

Sadly when installing 7.1.1 with either the default or the blank template it still does the same thing.  I searched and finally found a way around it, actually I found a couple messages with the solution in it, some of which you replied on.

The solution that worked for me was to insert the flag for GettingStartedPageShown in the PortalSettings table.  Once I ran the SQL code below I was able to access my site without the pop-up popping up all the time.  In one of the threads you did mention that if we did this to make sure the site was installed using the default template. So, I reinstalled my site and then inserted the flag and ran an IISReset on the web server.

So far so good with no issues.

 Insert into DNN_PortalSettings
    (PortalID, SettingName, SettingValue, CultureCode)
    Values   (0, 'GettingStartedPageShown', 'True',  'en-us')

Tim, thanks for providing your solution. There seem to be a couple of issues showing up in specific situations, and though the QA team of DNN Corp. tries a couple of scenarios, it is impossible for them to test all combinations of platforms, IIS configurations and DNN settings.

Actually, I may have jumped the gun on that solution.

While it did stop the issue of the Getting-Started page from popping up all the time I still can't do anything with the site.  The home page is there and it displays with no problems, there appear to be no other pages on the site.  If I try and get to any other pages on the site I just get a 404 error message.

Hi,

I am having a similar issue where I have deployed a website on an IP address and basically can't access any page (including getting-started) apart from the default.aspx.

I have created the site from default template, haven't deleted anything from the directory and can see the home page when I enter the IP address associated with the site.

Below are the 2 entries created in my PortalAlias table automatically when installing the site.

1 0 61.8.3.224 -1 2013-08-28 09:35:55.783 -1 2013-08-28 09:35:55.783 Normal NULL NULL True
2 0 default.aspx -1 2013-08-28 09:48:24.997 -1 2013-08-28 09:48:24.997 Normal NULL NULL False

I can install site successfully on localhost and dnndev.me urls.

Any help would be much appreciated.
