Hi,

I am trying to install DNN 7.1.1 without success. If I unzip the install package to a folder then load VS2012, open web site (choose the folder under file system0 and then CTRL-F5 the install wizard page loads. I enter the details including my database information. The install page then goes to the please wait page and it sits on 0% forever and doesn't ever do anything else.

If I follow the exact same procedure for DNN 6, it  installs perfectly.

Is there a problem with the DNN 7 install wizard? I am running VS2012, Windows 7

Also, I used to create development websites using the starter kit instead of the install package but I can't find a download for it in DNN 7.1.1  Has it been removed?

you do not need VS2012 to install DNN. please check installation instructions.

I think I am getting confused by the lack of a starter kit. I used to create a new DNN web site in VS2012 then run it.

OK, I will install it correctly! :-)

Incidentally, where has the starter kit gone?

I would really like to set up my development environment correctly.

you don't need starterkit to set up a dev environment, you may use install instead (or source for reference, but only needed for core mods, which is not suggested).
For module development, check out templates on Codeplex, e.g. from Chris Hammond: http://christoctemplate.codeplex.com/

OK, I will look at the templates on Chris Hammonds site.

Incidentally, I am having real problems installing version 7. I have followed Chris Hammonds video tutorial exactly but when I load up firefox and navigate to www.dnndev.me I get

"Firefox can't find the server at www.dnndev.me"
