Hi,

How can I install DNN with a database on sql2012, but the database is partially contained (new feature in sql 2012).

The setup where I tried it on cotains a frontend server windows 2012 with IIS8

Backend is a mssql 2012 server with partially contained databases.

Creating the tables, sp's, ... that seems to work and afterwards it goes wrong.

On the sql server I get a login failed (Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 5 -> Login failed for user 'S-1-9-3-3181858864....)

In this blog it says that the error above occurs when using a partially contained database and you don't specify the database.  http://sqlblog.com/blogs/aaron_bertra...

I tested it on the same server with a "classic" database and then it installs fine.

Is there a workarround so I can use the contained databases?

AFAIK DNN has not been tested with partially contained databases. You may either need to use an uncontained database or nee to fix install scripts yourself.

Not contained is not an option.
As DNN claims to work on mssql 2012 I assumed it also would work with partially contained databases because this is one of the most important updates with sql 2012.

Can you give me a hint of where I should change the script or what I should search for?

"Not Contained" is still default database configuration in SQL 2012, which includes a number of improvements, e.g. for performance.
I you want to run DNN with partially contained databases, you will need to modify .sqldataprovider scripts inside /Providers/dataproviders/sqldataprovider Folder, prior to browsing the Website for the first time.

Hi, May I assume this issue is being worked on as being integrated into the next release of dnn?
I like DNN, but if it no longer can offer me the ease of use (of installation) then I will have to look into other options unfortunately. :|
