Hi All,

I am having issues moving an install of DNN v5.6 from XP machine to Windows 7 Home Premium machine. I am being constantly redirected to the http://localhost/Install/UnderConstruction.htm page.

 I have IIS installed. MS SQL 2008 Express installed. The directory has been point to the site. The database has been restored. The web.config file has been edited... false to auto install. Custom Errors are "off".

 Everything seems right but I get the same page.

 Any ideas? Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks,
a8le

Do you have a login in SQL Server that allows your App Pool access to SQL Server *and* a SQL Server login for your DNN database that allows the App Pool access to the database.

like Richard said, this is most likely an issue accessing the database. Make sure you installed and enabled TCP/IP for Server and Client as well.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. It really has been a while, I kind of gave up. I want to give it a try again. Please elaborate on a few things for me:

*Where do I enable TCP/IP?

*Is it supposed to be LOCALSERVICE, NETWORKSERVICE, or ApplicationPoolIdentity in the default pool settings?

*Is this right?

  <connectionStrings>
    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;Database=my_localhost;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005/2008 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;Database=my_localhost;" />

*Folder permissions... who is supposed to have full control? computername/MY_USERNAME or NETWORKSERVICE or IIS_IUSRS?

*Also, I have moved the folder to C:/ although I reallly dont remember needing to for DNN. The reason I did so was because, when I right click to view the folder "properties" it was marked as "READ ONLY".  No matter how many times I uncheck the box it is still checked when I go back to properties. Why is that?

*By the way I deleted the MY_Database from the  MS SQL Management Studio and will restore it again. Any things to be mindful of?

*Did I miss anything?

Thanks,
a8le

In SQL server configuration tool, you may select protocols for server and client, make sure to have TCP/IP included for both (default).
on you own machine, you might use NETWORK SERVICE as Windows user for the IIS application pool - this user needs edit permission for the DNN install directory and everything inside/beneath, while IIS_IUSERS need read permission.
