You're not alone, Jill.
I can install DotNetNuke_Community_07.01.02_Upgrade.zip
But DotNetNuke_Community_07.01.02_Install.zip always leads to the same result: install hanging at 0%

Something missing in DotNetNuke_Community_07.01.02_Install.zip ?

Correction: same thing happens with DotNetNuke_Community_07.01.02_Upgrade.zip

@Bill I am sure it happens anything unaspected with the specific configuration on your System.  To force it out it is needed to have a look to the configurations on Database, IIS, Firewall, and of course DNN Settings.

I used the install package.....DotNetNuke_Community_07.01.02_Install.zip

I unzipped to a folder, then copied the unzipped files to another location as  c:/inetpub/wwwroot/dnn712.   That folder  had full permissions for NETWORK SERVICES user.  The folder was made an application in IIS.   .Net version was 4.0.

I never did get it working/displaying correctly, so I just went back to 7.1.1 for now which seems to work correctly under the same conditions of installation.

Thanks for responding.

Jill

Jill, could it be you are still using SQL Server 2005 or you using still the SQL compatibility mode 90 or lower?  Also have you unblock the zip file (Win7/8 or Win2008R2/2012)  before you extract the files?  Newer Windows knows files that downloaded from Internet, and did not allo to extract executable files.

Have you 32Mode Support enabled on the advanced Settings of your application pool?  If yes disable it!  Also a Change of the trustlevel can help try Full Trust and Medium Trust on your web.config file.

Please be aware that the ASP.Net process, which is using the Windows account specified in App Pool configuration, is needed for all files which are processed by .Net, i.e. all .aspx and .ascx pages. All other files (.html, .css, .js, .jpg) are delivered by IIS directly to the anonymous users, you specify in basic settings of the IIS website.

If the site looks totally distorted, usually read permissions for anonymous users (don't grant write) are missing.

Cheers from Germany,
