I am attempting to install DNN on one of our Server 2008 boxes, and I'm having an issue. The installer doesn't work at all when using IE (it gives a Database Connection Error), and when I use FF 30.0 it appears to partially work (the database tables, sp's are created etc), but the progress counter never changes from 0%. I've let the installer run for well over an hour, with no change. It's possible that it's actually completing successfully in the background, but how can I tell? Has anyone else experienced this?

I am not aware of this being a general problem, there must be some special configuration on your server. Did you make sure to have full permission for the database and file system.

This was common in earlier versions from my experience and the only solution I found was to delete everything and start over. I was never able to determine root cause and it was random.

The database user specified in the web.config is db_owner and I've given full control to the account (the application pool identity) in the file system.

Is there a way to verify a successful install without relying on the installer page telling me that it completed? What should I look for?

if you are on your own server, you may switch from app pool identity to network service account and adjust permission accordingly.
